I have heard the name being tossed around a few times. I was a little curious. But not that curious. I’m waiting for the ultimate game, you know; Spore! =) I haven’t even looked at what that game really is.
After reading this, I can safely say I will not buy it. No matter what it is. If you treat your customers like criminals, you don’t deserve any. And knowing myself, there is a really big chance of formatting my harddrive without uninstalling everything first…
Allright, where do i begin?
First, its 5 installs and you reclaim your tokes when uninstalling. So, essentially, 5 people can share the expense and buy 1 box and all use it at the same time.
Aswell, people have been crying “rootkit” all over the place when this (securom) is a service that you can uninstall, remove and not start at all. Sure you need it to play and all but you can remove it freely and it has been proven several times that it has none of the (karaktärsdragen) for a rootkit. sure, it leaves a registry entry.
but anyway, im Dling it now without any activation crap, once again it fucks the customers and the pirates dont need to worry about anything!
But, i can almost bet, that Spore will use this or even a even worse version of securom (The sims 2 uses securom if you didnt know).
so, either you bite the sour apple or just pirate it 🙂
Sorry if i came out a bit rude and all, but hay.. you know me 🙂
Btw, should have added this in the prev. entry. Do you EVER reinstall? Remember doing it for you last time and all i was hearing was “oh noes, there it goes bla bla bla whine whine”.
But Hardware failures are common 🙁
Erm… I SHOULD install sometimes but… THAT’S NOT THE POINT! =)
Anyway you said the truth yourself: “once again it fucks the customers and the pirates dont need to worry about anything!”
That is my point. Why bother with effing with the customer when it has no effect??? When it has the opposite effect…
btw: karaktärsdrag=characteristics?
well, it has helped the product somewhat. but what is going to hapend is that more and more games will be half-good ports of console games 2-3 years after the initial release. Why? they can guarentee (the same) profit margins as for console-only games.
Monkey is king. But there is still developers that makes games with good ethics. Relic, Kerberos and numours others makes games with copy protection, but removes it in 2-3 months with patches.
I still think this have made them more money then without, took em 3 weeks to crack it and those 3 weeks are importaint!
Maybe they are. But I still don’t think spending all that time, money and effort making those copy protections (with rootkits and whatnot) are the best way to go. I wonder if people wouldn’t buy the game they play the most if they can afford it. And if they can’t afford it, we don’t need to bother about what they do. A customer without money shouldn’t bother anyone…
Personally, I don’t care how much I can download Spore for free, I will still buy it. Just like I went out and bought Sims 2 after playing it for a week.
